Bathrooms are probably the toughest spots to clean in a house. From bathroom fixtures to the tub and toilet and even the tile grout, there are many things that can get dirty with constant use. A clean bathroom is not only important for the appearance sake but essential for the health and well-being of your family.
Here are 5 tips to deal with common bathroom problem areas
Mildew on Shower Curtains
While mildew on shower curtains isn’t an ideal situation, luckily there’s an easy fix. Add a half cup bleach to one-gallon water to make a solution. Put on protective gloves and soak a clean sponge in the solution. Squeeze the sponge a little and then use the sponge to wipe the mildew clean. Rinse the shower curtain again once the mildew is cleaned.
Mineral deposits on faucets
Hard water can cause mineral deposits on the faucet. While unsightly they can be cleaned easily. Soak some paper towels with white vinegar and wrap the faucet with them. Next day remove the towels. Fill up your basin with hot water, add dishwashing liquid. Dip an old toothbrush in this solution and use it to scrub the mineral deposits. The white vinegar would have already softened the mineral deposits.
Dirty glass shower doors
Mineral deposits on a glass door can make it look really dirty. To clean the mineral deposits spray the white vinegar on the glass walls and let it sit for a few minutes. Create a paste using equal parts of soda and salt. Using a damp sponge, apply the paste and scrub thoroughly before rinsing with water.
Faded brass fixtures
You don’t need to replace your brass fixtures every time they begin to look faded and old. Mix equal parts of lemon juice and baking soda. Dip an old toothbrush into the mix and scrub the fixtures. Let the solution soak for a little while and then buff it with a clean cloth.
Mildew on grout
White vinegar is a miracle worker when it comes to cleaning bathrooms, including mildew on grout. Spray white vinegar on the grout and scrub away the mildew out of the grout. You can remove mildew from tile grout by applying a solution of equal parts water and chlorine bleach.
